The 110th anniversary of Walt Disney's birth




As you know, this year is the 110th anniversary of Walt Disney's birth.
Several events are held all over the world and we enjoy it xD

I want to introduce some goods for the anniversary, which are sold
only in Japan.

Do you know the koban?
The koban was a Japanese oval gold coin in Edo period feudal Japan.

And this time, for the annivesary, Japanese jewelry company "Ginza Tanaka"
has produced the koban and the Ōban, and they made Disney design on them.
Also, all they are with solid gold. You can have them as the solid gold.

It is the mp3 player, and the shape of it is the tin badge.

Toy Story Ichiban Kuji "Kyun-Chara World" are released now!



Do you remember "Ichiban-Kuji" I told you before?
It is very popular lots in Japan and they quite often release the original
items which we can get only when we draw lots. And those items are
not sold at shops usually.

And this time, Ichiban-Kuji of Toy Story has been released since October 5.
We can get them at convenience store "Seven Eleven" in Japan.
As you know, Toy Story is the most popular in the world, and of course,
there are so many Toy Story fans in Japan, so now it is so difficult to find a

shop where these items has been remained, though a little time has passed
since these items were released.

Some Toy Story's characters were the Halloween costumes.
The lots have items from A to G. And usually Ichiban Kuji has though,
if you draw the last lot (if you draw the lot when a shop has last one item),
you can get an item they have as a last one. In short, one shop has one item
as a last one. The item become super rare item because the amount itself
is little necessarily.

I couldn't get them because Seven Eleven which is located nearby my office.
However I can find them on PIJ! If you'd like, please check out them :)

Ichiban-Kuji = 一番くじ　
Toy Story = トイストーリー　

Please combine two Japanese words with "a space".
"一番くじ　トイストーリー"

If you change the word "Toy Story" to another, you can find other
Ichiban Kuji items!

ex.
"一番くじ ドラゴンボール" = "Ichiban Kuji + Dragon Ball"
"一番くじ ジョジョ" = "Ichiban Kuji + JoJo's Bizarre Adventure"
"一番くじ ドラえもん" = "Ichiban Kuji + Doraemon"

A new record was made at Tokyo DisneySea!!



I was surprised at the news announced on TV yesterday. 
Although a new attraction "Toy Story Mania!" opened on July 9 at Tokyo DisneySea,
many people had to wait to enter it for "500 minutes" on July 16.

500 minutes... about 8 hours!! =(8-O)
A new record was made! :)

Moreover, the temperature went up to 36 degrees at Tokyo DisneySea!
A lot of people waited under the blazing sun.
I think I can't do it. But I can guess everyone thought they didn't
want to lose that chance! They visited there to enjoy that new attraction!

By the way, the attraction will be located in Toyville Trolley Park,
a new area themed after an old-fashioned amusement park.
Toy Story Mania! have a few differences from the attraction
at Walt Disney World Resort, including the fact that guests will initially
enter through Woody's mouth. From here, guests will find themselves
in Andy's room, which is strewn with larger-than-life board games,
puzzles and other toys.

New Year's Day in Japan


Have you heard anything about New year in Japan?
Its pretty different to other countries.

The biggest holiday of the year in Japan is New Year's Day.
In Europe and North America Christmas is one of the biggest annual events,
but here in Japan New Year's is, by far, the most important and elaborate holiday.


In recent years, the significance of New Year's has been lost a lot and now many people spend the holiday,
which Normally starts around Dec. 30 and ends around Jan. 3, in resort areas or even in foreign countries.
Such as tropical places.

Still, a great number of people spend the sacred holiday
 with family members at home and celebrate the beginning of the new year.

New Year's Day in the morning we say "akemashite omedetou" which is Happy new year in Japanese.
First we get Nengajou which is New Year's greeting card from post.
And see who send me.
If people send me nengajou we are really happy to know how they are doing now.

Normally we send Nengajou to good friends or people who we like :-)

In Japan, the New Year's holidays are a time for children to receive monetary gifts,
or otoshidama, from their parents and extended family.
Otoshidama is one of the happy events for children during the New Year holidays.
If their is many relative you will have many money going out lol

But its new year everybody feel happy :-)

After this we have breakfast wich call "Osechi-ryouri"
Normally lady prepare this from couple days before, to have day off in New Year's Day.
Well we buy osechi now.


We meet many relatives and plays with kids :-)
Eat nice foods too.

People are blessed in Shinto ceremonies and wait in line to ring a small bell and pray,
drink hot sake, eat mochi (chewy rice cakes).
And many of them are draw "Omikuji" which is written(paper) fortunes.
I got bad results for straight 3years :-(
Its very rare but not so happy though.
We call this "Hatsu-mode"
Very important things in Japan.
Its not like religion more custom from long time ago.

Many comedian program is on Tv.
Because this is most happy days in Japan.
No sad or tears.
We just wants to smile and laugh.


The Chinese Zodiac , which is used Japan, is based on years rather months.
Each year in a 12-year cycle is named after a different animal.

Next year is dragon :-)

Thats why many items from Japan designed as a dragon.
I am looking forward to eve and New Year's Day.
I cannot wait.
