Osechi-ryori in New Years day

Do you know Osechi-ryori?
Osechi Ryori which is specially prepared for New Year's dishes.
Its normaly eaten during the first three days of January.

Most dishes are cooked to be preserved for at least 3days.
This is to make housewives rest from cooking.

Traditional style is to having various
type of meals full in one big lacquer boxes.

Each of the dishes has some auspicious
meaning which reflects people's wishes.

For example,kazunoko is wishing to have many children.
cooked black beans is to be healthy.
lobsters are for longevity because their
bodies are bent like an old person's.

Traditional way is to go shrine in new years day.
and express own goals of new year.
After that eat Osechi-ryori.

Every family used to make Osechi-ryori by themselves before.
But recently they dont know how to make or too busy to make.
So we buy from restaurant or from shops.

Every body try to buy expensive one as possible as they can afford.
In these happy events normaly Japanese use plenty of money.
Otherwise good luck will gone to somewhere else.
Just way of old thinking :-)

Osechi-ryouri needs lots of time to make it.
So if we wants to buy normally needs to reserve from month ago.
Now good timing to make a reservation.

Its very diffcult to get this if I miss this year.
Many Kitty fan in Japan try to buy this
to have box evrey year :-)

This is much bigger than Christmas in here.

And Normaly all Japanese celebrate and having off for first
three days after new years day.
