Nio statue in Todaiji

Have you seen Nio statue or other name Kongorikishi statue?
This is one of great hisotorical hand-carved wooden statue in Japan.

Made in 12th century.

Nio is Two wrath filled and muscular guardians of the Buddha.
Normaly standing today at the entrance of many Buddhist temples in China, Japan and Korea。

Nio in Todaiji is one of famous statue in Japan.
Because its so old and very important for all Japanese its surround it from wire mesh.
